Symptoms of Frozen Shoulder

Frozen Shoulder has become a common condition in people across age group. Some common symptoms of Frozen Shoulder are:

  • Freezing Stage

In this stage, you’ll start feeling a pain in the shoulder anytime you move it.

It may hurt more in the night and slowly gets worse over time.

The range of motion of the shoulder joint gets affected. This stage can last for 6 - 9 months if not treated.

  • Frozen Stage

During this stage, there is a chance that your pain reduces. However, your stiffness will worsen and you’ll lose the ability to move your shoulder.

You might lose the ability to do a lot of functional activities such as driving, combing hair, scrubbing back, putting your hand behind your neck, playing racquet sports, etc.

This stage generally lasts for 4 - 12 months if left untreated.

  • Thawing Stage

Once the condition reaches this stage, you’ll start getting your range of motion back to normal. The pain in the joint also starts to reduce.

This stage generally lasts for 6 months to 2 years.

  • Night Pain

Most of the time, this condition causes severe pain in the night while sleeping.

This leads to patients being unable to sleep well for a prolonged duration (even a few months).

This can end up adversely affecting the patient’s daily life and occupational duties.

It’s best to start getting treated as soon as the condition is diagnosed.
